Hi, this class is wonderful! Thank you. I have a question – I have a brand new Singer 9960 Quantum stylist and I’m trying to figure out how to do a chain stich on it. Does anyone on this forum know the answer? I’ve tried googling & Youtubing it without much luck

    Thanks! ~ <3

This class is so helpful, so it’s kind of sad that we can’t rate it! Have full five stars from me! My machine came with manual on other language not my native, non english and most of the time I have no idea what to do as maintenance for it. Thank you so much for sharing this tips! Lovely style of teaching.

I sometimes get skipped stitches. I did fix it but I’m not sure what I did to fix it as I changed my needle size, changed the bobbin thread as it was not the same as my sewing thread, rethreaded the top and bobbin thread all at the same time. After watching this class, I am thinking that it was more likely caused by the bobbin thread being different than the top thread. ???

Most probably it was the needle that helped. Having different threads up and bottom is not a problem for most modern machines. But if the thread does not go through the needle correctly (ie too small eye or groove), the loop that’s created when the needle is on its way back up from under the fabric is not big enough so the hook of the race cannot “grab” it to form a stitch. Remember, it’s all happening very fast when sewing within very tiny space so if you miss a thread tension or use a wrong needle your stitches might not form properly. On YT is a really good webinar about needles with Sylvain Bergeron – a Bernina engineer. He explains it very well and in detail how the stitch is formed and what different needles do, his information is applicable to any brand of sewing machines.
